Postdoctoral Recruitment Announcement for the Sino-French Laboratory for Mathematics of Beihang University

The Sino-French Laboratory for Mathematics is established under the International Research Center for Mathematics and Interdisciplinary Sciences (IRCMIS), which is part of the Hangzhou International Innovation Institute of Beihang University (H3I). The laboratory is now openly recruiting outstanding postdoctoral researchers worldwide.
1.Introduction to Hangzhou International Innovation Institute of Beihang University (H3I)

On May 29, 2023, the unveiling ceremony of theHangzhou International Campus of Beihang University was held, marking a new chapter in Beihang’s"Two Cities, Three Campuses"initiative to build a world-class university. H3I adheres to a talent-driven development strategy, focusing on cultivating top-tier innovative talents and promoting scientific and technological self-reliance. It strives to build a new highland for the integrated development of education, technology, and talent with an international perspective.

The campus is located in the core area of Hangzhou West Science and Technology Innovation Corridor, close to the Hangzhou West Railway Station and the Liangzhu Cultural Site, a world cultural heritage. In the first phase of construction, the campus covers a land area of 67 hectares, with a total floor area of 770,000 square meters, featuring state-of-the-art teaching and research facilities, comprehensive living amenities, and an eco-friendly environment, providing an excellent setting for learning, research, and innovation.

2.Recruitment Areas
Applicants should demonstrate strong academic competence in mathematics or related disciplines. Research areas include but are not limited to: pure mathematics (e.g., geometry, algebra, analysis, etc.), applied mathematics (e.g., information mathematics, computational mathematics, etc.).
3. Requirements for applicants

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

(1) Have aPh.D. degree, generally obtained within the past two years (no time limit for applicants seeking a second or subsequent postdoctoral position).

(2) Uphold and comply with national laws and regulations, demonstrate good moral character and academic excellence, be in good health, possess high standards of academic integrity, and have strong research capabilities.

(3) Beunder 35 years old(inclusive).

(4) Meet the recruitment requirements of the relevant teaching and research institutions within H3I.

(5) Be able to engage in full-time research during the postdoctoral period. Employed personnel are not allowed to work part-time.

4. Recruitment Procedure

(1) Application

Application Period: From the date of announcement until the position is filled.

Submission Method: Email your application materials to postdoc_h3i@buaa.edu.cn and CC chenqi.mou@buaa.edu.cn with the subject: "Postdoctoral Application + Position Code + Name". Required documents include:

(i) Curriculum Vitae.

(ii) H3I Postdoctoral Application Form (Attachment 2) and Information Summary Form (Attachment 3).

(iii) Proof of academic qualifications and representative research achievements (e.g., papers, monographs, patents).

(iv) Additional supporting materials.

(v) For international graduates: a scanned copy of the certificate of foreign degree recognition issued by the Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange (CSCSE).

A successful application submission is confirmed only by receiving an automatic email reply.

(2) Material Review

H3I will convene a panel of experts to conduct an initial evaluation of qualified applicants. The assessment will focus on academic achievements, teaching/research experience, developmental potential, and alignment with disciplinary needs. A shortlist of candidates will be determined, and the preliminary results will be communicated via email.

(3) Comprehensive Evaluation

From the date of this announcement, the recruiting institution will organize evaluations in batches based on application status. The assessment will be conducted in the form of interviews, with content determined by an expert panel according to the job responsibilities and professional requirements. Evaluation methods may include professional skill tests, academic presentations, and on-site interviews.

(4)Physical Examination

Applicants who pass the assessment must undergo a physical examination at a Tertiary hospital or above. Upon passing the examination, an admission notice will be issued.

5. Support Policies

(1) Compensation and Benefits

(i) Competitive salary packages are provided: Category A postdoctoral researchers receive an annual salary of 320,000 RMB (may additionally apply for Hangzhou Municipal and Yuhang District subsidies); Category B postdoctoral researchers receive an annual salary of 280,000 RMB (may additionally apply for Hangzhou Municipal and Yuhang District subsidies).

(ii) Category A postdocs who apply for faculty positions at H3I upon completion will be given priority under equal conditions.

(2) Research Support

(i) A one-time research start-up fund of 150,000 RMB is provided (including government subsidies).

(ii) Access to top-tier research platforms and office space is offered, with support for the development of customized research platforms.

(iii) For recipients of the China Postdoctoral Science Foundation or provincial-level postdoctoral research grants, matching funds of up to a 1:1 ratio are available (including municipal-level subsidies).

(iv) Assistance is provided in applying for various talent programs and research projects.

(3) Living Support

(i) On-campus postdoctoral apartments are provided.

(ii) To ensure a supportive research and living environment for postdoctoral researchers, H3I, in coordination with resources from Hangzhou Municipal and Yuhang District, offers the following financial support: A living subsidy of 100,000 RMB-150,000 RMB for newly introduced full-time PhDs, 240,000 RMB-350,000 RMB for each postdoctoral researcher during the two-year term; A settlement allowance of 400,000 RMB for those who choose to stay in or relocate to Yuhang District after completing their postdoctoral term; In accordance with the Management Measures for the Special Fund for Innovation and Development in the Hangzhou Chengxi Sci-Tech Innovation Corridor, postdoctoral researchers who stay or come to work in the Corridor after completion and have maintained social insurance for three years are eligible for an additional 400,000 RMB special grant (see details in Yuhang District’s "Hai Chuang Future · Outstanding Postdoctoral Talent Program" Soaring Plan and the Hangzhou Chengxi Sci-Tech Innovation Corridor Innovation Development Special Fund Management Measures, etc. All policies are implemented in accordance with the latest government regulations.

(iii) Postdoctoral researchers who, after project completion, receive a science and technology award at the municipal level or above, obtain an authorized invention patent (as one of the top three contributors), or participate in setting an industry or national standard (as one of the top three contributors) will be recognized as Category D Talent by Hangzhou Municipal and may apply for a housing subsidy of 1,000,000 RMB.

(iv) Eligible to obtain registered household status in Hangzhou according to relevant policies.

(v) High-quality basic education resources are available within Yuhang District, with assistance provided for children's school and kindergarten enrollment.

(vi) 24-hour medical service on campus is provided.

(All policies are implemented in accordance with the latest regulations.)
