Faculty Recruitment Announcement for the Sino-French Laboratory for Mathematics of Beihang University

The Sino-French Laboratory for Mathematics is established under the International Research Center for Mathematics and Interdisciplinary Sciences (IRCMIS), which is part of the Hangzhou International Innovation Institute of Beihang University (H3I). The laboratory is now openly recruiting outstanding academic talents worldwide.
1. Introduction to Hangzhou International Innovation Institute of Beihang University (H3I)
H3I remains firmly committed to its educational mission characterized by advanced standing, new model, and international vision. Leveraging Beihang University's strengths in key academic disciplines and supported by a Ministry of Education-approved Sino-foreign cooperative educational institution, the institute cultivates doctoral, master's, undergraduate, and international students with excellent student quality.H3I is located on the Hangzhou International Campus of Beihang University, situated in the core area of Hangzhou West Science and Technology Innovation Corridor, close to the Hangzhou West Railway Station and the Liangzhu Cultural Site, a world cultural heritage. In the first phase of construction, the campus covers a land area of 67 hectares, with a total floor area of 770,000 square meters, featuring state-of-the-art teaching and research facilities, comprehensive living amenities, and an eco-friendly environment, providing an excellent setting for learning, research, and innovation.With the approval of the Office of Institutional Organization of the CPC Hangzhou Municipal Committee, the Hangzhou Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau, and the Hangzhou Municipal Education Bureau, the institute has adopted a new employment mechanism characterized by “initial tenure-track appointment, re-evaluation, and subsequent inclusion in the staffing system.” (For details, please refer to relevant announcements on the H3I’s official website.) In full implementation of the tenure-track system, candidates who successfully pass the evaluation during the tenure-track period and meet the corresponding criteria for their academic rank will be incorporated into the officially registered staffing quota of Hangzhou Municipality.
2. Recruitment Areas
Applicants should demonstrate strong academic competence in mathematics or related disciplines. Research areas include but are not limited to: pure mathematics (e.g., geometry, algebra, analysis, etc.), applied mathematics (e.g., information mathematics, computational mathematics, etc.).
3. Recruitment Positions

(1) Recruitment requirements

Applicants should hold a doctoral degree from a top-tier university, either domestic or international, and possess a high level of academic achievement and international influence in mathematics and related disciplines. They should also demonstrate significant research accomplishments or distinctive technical expertise. Young scholars should have strong potential for scientific innovation and academic development.

In principle, candidates applying for associate-level positions should be no older than 35, and those applying for full professorships should be no older than 40. In exceptional cases, the age limit may be relaxed upon review by the institute.

(2) Available Positions

Positions are available at associate and full levels in both the teaching-research track and the research-only track.

4. Salary, Benefits, and Support

(1) Salary and Benefits

(i) Annual salary system, the selected candidates will be offered a competitive salary and benefits that enable them to focus on scientific research and teaching work.

(ii) Hangzhou Municipality provides substantial subsidies for high-level overseas talents who successfully apply for national, provincial, or municipal recognition, with maximum subsidies of 7 million, 4 million, and 2.5 million RMB, respectively. Postdoctoral researchers relocating to Hangzhou may receive up to 900,000 RMB over three years. Newly introduced full-time Ph.D. holders may receive a one-time subsidy of up to 100,000 RMB.

(2) Research Support

(i) Sufficient start-up funding: Funding can be negotiated case-by-case for academicians, 3–5 million RMB for national-level talents, 1.5 million RMB for full professors or researchers, 800,000 RMB for associate professors or  researchers.

(ii) Sufficient matching funds for research: Government-sponsored or enterprise-collaborative projects are matched at a 1:1 ratio.

(iii) Full assistance in applying for talent and research projects. For national-level talents, up to 6 million RMB in matching or startup funding (excluding national support) may be provided at a 2:1 ratio.

(iv) Adequate office and laboratory space: no less than 200 square meters for full professors or researchers.

(3) Living Support

(i) Provide the purchase quota for on-campus teacher apartments or Yuhang District talent shared property houses (in accordance with government regulations, individuals can purchase 30%-80% of the property rights).

(ii) According to the classification of high-level talents in Hangzhou, government housing subsidies ranging from 2 million to 8 million RMB can be applied for to purchase commercial housing.

(iii) The institute will assist with household registration procedures in Hangzhou for the candidate's spouse and children.

(iv) Provide high-quality basic education resources to ensure children to enter kindergarten and school.

(v) The campus medical center provides 24-hour service and green channels at designated hospitals are also available.

(i) Beihang University New Faculty Application Form (Attachments 1.1–1.4), H3I Faculty Recruitment Information Summary Form (Attachment 2), Expert Evaluation Form (Attachment 3).

(ii) ID card, degree certificates, professional title certificates (if any), and proof of employment (including postdoctoral experience).

(iii) Proof of academic achievements (e.g., indexing certificates, first pages of publications, monographs, patents, projects, awards), consistent with the application form.

(iv) Five representative works (e.g., papers, monographs) from the past five years, as listed in the Application and Evaluation Forms.

(v) Three letters of recommendation, one of which must be from the Ph.D. advisor or postdoctoral supervisor.

(vi) For international graduates: a scanned copy of the certificate of foreign degree recognition issued by the Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange (CSCSE).
